"There's no secret behind it," Federer told reporters. "I'm definitely a very talented player. I always knew I had something special, but I didn't know it was like, that crazy."

On playing Roddick in Cincinnati

"It was a great finals against Andy. I always enjoy, especially in America, playing against him. He's really a fair, fair player, and I really enjoy it every time, not just because I win."

"In a best of five set match, there's always the mental toughness and also the physical one, and I just feel that I'm superior in these two areas to Nikolai."

"It's incredible, looking back on how many years that is now, I'm able to deliver at Grand Slam play," Federer said. "For some reason I was just a bit worried I was not going to make it this time in the semis.

"Now obviously that it's safe again and I've been able to add one. Definitely one of the most incredible things I have in my résumé."

"After having a rough 2008, coming back this year and being able to dominate and play at the top when the depth in tennis is so, so great at the moment, I think it's a wonderful achievement," Federer said. "It's a wonderful feeling."

"We had a crisis in the financial world and I also had a crisis -- I dropped to No. 2," Federer said, smiling.

"It doesn't matter to me," said Federer, the winner of a record 15 Grand Slams, including the last two at the French Open and Wimbledon. "I'm past that point. People try to hype it up, but I don't read anything into it. I know my game's on, and when my game's on, I know I can beat any player in the world."
